African Peace Centre (APC) is an NGO (non-governmental organization) founded in Uganda in 2011, focused on helping to build a peace society and share solutions to the challenges of globalization and human development in Uganda. A number of its activities relate to linkages between peace and sustainable development, change, investment and sometimes to environment as well.
At the initiative of the African Union (AU) and within the framework of the year of peace ,security and stability in Africa that took place in Cairo, Egypt from 26th to 28th August 2010. The retreat aimed at giving further impetus to efforts to bring to an end the scourge of armed conflicts and political crises in the African Continent and consolidate peace where it has been achieved. Being the first of its kind the retreat represents an important high level forum for reflection on the challenges of forging Peace and security and holding the AU accountable to the promise to help making peace a reality. |
